Volunteers who would like to support the Fairbanks area's efforts to stomp out COVID-19 in our community will be coordinated by the Fairbanks Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a division of the Fairbanks Area Citizen Corps.
NOTE: The Fairbanks Community Response Team (CERT) will assist in volunteer management for the COVID-19 response.
The COVID-19 emergency has affected us all. Volunteers are needed to meet the growing demands placed on local health care providers and agencies. If you are interested in lending your time for COVID-19 efforts, please complete the online VOLUNTEER FORM.

The Fairbanks Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) asks that potential volunteers NOT serve if you feel uncomfortable doing so, if you show symptoms associated with COVID-19, or if you have been in close contact with people known to have the virus or live with an immunocompromised person. You should also monitor and follow all suggested state and federal recommendations regarding ways to prevent the spread of the virus.

Currently, our greatest need is for volunteers to help in the making of community masks that can be distributed to individuals, families, and groups under 50 people.

The mission of Fairbanks Area Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make our Interior communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds through:
-
Preparing the public for local risks with targeted outreach
-
Engaging volunteers to help augment the resources for public safety, preparedness and response capabilities through programs such as the Fairbanks Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) or Volunteers in Policing
-
Integrating the whole community and utilizing non-traditional resources to ensure disaster preparedness
The Citizen Corps program includes a national network of over 1,200 states, local, and tribal Citizen Corps Councils bring together local government, business, and community leaders who work to prepare their communities for disaster and to make them more resilient. Councils harness the power of every individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the hazards and threats facing their community.
Citizen Corps asks you to embrace the personal responsibility to be prepared; to get training in first aid and emergency skills; and to volunteer to support local emergency responders, disaster relief, and community safety.
The Fairbanks Community Emergency Response Team is a division of the Fairbanks Area Citizen Corps that are called upon when our community needs us most. CERT members receive free training and equipment. CERT may be activated by the Fairbanks North Star Borough and other local agencies to aid in community events, wildfires, winter storms, floods, and public health emergencies, such as COVID-19. The team is made up of volunteers so we understand that your availability may vary depending on your work schedule and other obligations - we appreciate all that you can do!
